Newronika Secures European Approval for Adaptive Brain Stimulation
Milan-based Newronika has received CE Mark certification for its αDBS® system, marking a shift toward real-time neurological care. By integrating an adaptive pulse generator with the WebBioBank™ cloud platform, the technology allows clinicians to monitor brain signals continuously and adjust therapy dynamically for patients with Parkinson’s disease.

Traditional deep brain stimulation relies on fixed, constant electrical output, often failing to account for the fluctuating needs of a patient’s brain throughout the day. The αDBS® system departs from this model by utilizing a patented Adaptive Therapy Stim Engine. This component reads local field potentials in real time, automatically recalibrating stimulation to keep the patient within an optimal therapeutic window. According to CEO Lorenzo Rossi, this certification validates a data-driven approach that aims to reduce clinical burdens and side effects.
The system’s efficiency relies on its connection to WebBioBank™, a specialized neural data infrastructure. This platform acts as a repository for de-identified brain signals and clinical data, providing researchers and physicians with a longitudinal view of treatment progress across multiple centers. While the technology is now cleared for commercial use in the European Economic Area, Newronika is simultaneously pursuing U.S. market entry. The company is currently conducting the ADVENT pivotal trial under a U.S. FDA Investigational Device Exemption, which will serve as the foundation for future regulatory submissions in the United States.
