Bad Idea Taps Gelatt and Yarovesky for Horror Comic It Demands Sacrifice
A goat struggling to prove his worth on a rural farm becomes an unlikely hero when a murderous satanic cult descends upon his home. This October, screenwriter Philip Gelatt and filmmaker David Yarovesky will debut It Demands Sacrifice, a prestige-format limited series that blends visceral horror with unexpected heart.

The project represents a creative pivot for Gelatt, the Emmy-winning writer of Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots, and Yarovesky, known for the superhero horror film Brightburn. Joined by artist Adam Pollina and colorist Dean White, the duo intends to subvert genre expectations by placing an innocent animal at the center of a ritualistic nightmare. According to Gelatt, the narrative explores the juxtaposition of adorable imagery and extreme danger, drawing thematic inspiration from classic fables while grounding the plot in a dark, occult landscape.
Yarovesky describes the series as a marriage between the emotional resonance of animated classics like Bambi and the relentless terror of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Beyond the gore, he views the story as a personal examination of self-perception and the societal labels that limit individual potential. For publisher Bad Idea, the series is a calculated effort to leverage the unique visual language of comics to create a tone that would be difficult to replicate in film or television.
Fans attending San Diego Comic-Con will receive an exclusive early edition of the first issue during the publisher's panel on July 24. A wider retail release is scheduled for October, supported by a series of variant covers from industry artists including Skottie Young and Alex Pardee.
