Tom Homan Warns of More Bloodshed Amid ICE Shooting Scrutiny
White House border czar Tom Homan issued a stark ultimatum to Democratic lawmakers on Wednesday, declaring that further bloodshed is inevitable unless critics cease their rhetoric against Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents following two recent fatal shootings.

Since July 7, ICE agents have killed two men—Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Texas and Johan Sebastián Guerrero in Maine. Neither man was the intended target of the operations that led to their deaths. While the Department of Homeland Security initially suspended traffic stops following the incidents, President Donald Trump quickly ordered the practice to resume. Homan, who previously supported a brief review of agency tactics, reversed his position after the White House intervened, insisting the policy remains unchanged.
In a Fox News appearance, Homan shifted the responsibility for the violence away from agency operations, claiming that Democratic criticism of ICE encourages individuals to evade or resist law enforcement. Despite Homan's assertions, Democratic lawmakers have consistently provided information on legal rights—such as the right to demand a warrant—without inciting physical resistance. Critics, including Alex Nowrasteh of the Cato Institute, labeled Homan’s comments a dangerous deflection, while Rep. Rosa DeLauro described the rhetoric as an irresponsible attempt to intimidate those exercising First Amendment rights.
