Irvine Breaks Ground on $7.7 Million Innovation Hub
At 510 Technology Drive, the City of Irvine is launching a 25,000-square-foot facility designed to consolidate the region’s fragmented startup ecosystem. By blending municipal oversight with private and federal capital, the project aims to establish a singular "front door" for entrepreneurs seeking lab space, funding, and strategic mentorship.

The facility, situated within the city’s Healthcare Corridor, marks a shift in municipal strategy by moving beyond traditional zoning to active ecosystem management. The center serves as the centerpiece of Irvine’s Economic Development Blueprint, targeting high-wage job growth through a centralized concierge model. Entrepreneurs will gain access to integrated services ranging from SBA 7(a) loan navigation to specialized innovation labs.
Funding for the initiative relies on a $7.7 million hybrid model. This includes a $1 million federal appropriation alongside private contributions from the Stella and John Foundation, American Lending Center, and tenant support from the Irvine Company. According to Mayor Larry Agran, the project is a generational investment intended to anchor the city’s leadership in business ingenuity.
Operational partners already committed to the space include the Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center and American Lending Center. These organizations will provide the necessary infrastructure for startups to scale, with broader collaborations involving the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce expected to follow. Construction is slated to commence in late 2027, with the facility scheduled to open its doors to the public in the second quarter of 2028.
