Brazil's ANAC Proposes Noise Standards for Eve 100 eVTOL

Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency has released proposed noise certification criteria for the Eve 100, marking a critical step in the regulatory path for the company’s electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. The proposal is currently open for public consultation, with a deadline set for August 8.

The draft criteria represent a collaborative effort between Eve Air Mobility and the regulator, adapting existing aviation noise standards to the specific acoustic profile of the Eve 100. By establishing formal measurement methodologies, the agency aims to ensure the aircraft meets environmental protection standards before it enters commercial service. CEO Johann Bordais noted that this framework is essential for the safe integration of urban air mobility, allowing for international regulatory alignment.

Public perception remains a primary challenge for the adoption of advanced air mobility. To address this, Eve has already conducted extensive studies in cities including New York, Orlando, and San Francisco. These initiatives used virtual reality and sound simulations to gauge community reactions. The company’s design, which utilizes a lift-plus-cruise architecture, is intended to operate with a lower noise signature than traditional helicopters. Following the close of the consultation period, ANAC will evaluate stakeholder feedback to finalize the certification requirements, a process that underpins Eve’s broader strategy for global deployment.
