Royal Caribbean Raises Full-Year Outlook on Strong Cruise Demand
Royal Caribbean Group outperformed second-quarter earnings expectations as robust consumer demand for cruise vacations offset the drag of prolonged geopolitical instability. The Miami-based operator reported an adjusted earnings per share of $4.21, prompting leadership to lift its full-year guidance as bookings remain resilient across its global portfolio.
The company generated $4.8 billion in revenue during the second quarter, marking a 6% year-over-year increase. Strong performance was bolstered by a 110% load factor, as 2.4 million guests sailed with the group’s brands. Despite a modest near-term booking impact on specific itineraries tied to international tensions, the firm remains confident in its "Perfecta" program, which targets a 20% earnings compound annual growth rate through 2027.
Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty emphasized that the successful launch of Legend of the Seas—the third ship in the company’s Icon class—underscores a broader strategy to capture a larger share of the $2 trillion global vacation market. Looking ahead, Royal Caribbean expects full-year adjusted earnings to land between $17.73 and $17.87 per share. To support this growth, the group has increased its revolving credit capacity to $6.6 billion, maintaining a liquidity position of $6.9 billion to fund its ongoing fleet expansion and destination initiatives.
