Dasher Neuroscience Hits Enrollment Milestone for MSA Drug Candidate
Ninety patients across the United States, Japan, and Taiwan have joined the Phase 2 clinical trial for YA-101, an AI-discovered drug candidate targeting Multiple System Atrophy. Dasher Neuroscience expects to publish top-line data from this global study in the first quarter of 2027, marking a pivotal step for the rare disease treatment.
The trial utilizes a double-blind, placebo-controlled design to assess the safety and efficacy of YA-101, a D-amino acid oxidase inhibitor. By reducing neuroinflammation and promoting neuroplasticity, the drug aims to provide a disease-modifying therapy for a condition that currently lacks effective treatment options. Participants in the study, aged 30 and older, include those diagnosed with both the Parkinsonian and cerebellar subtypes of the condition.
Dr. Jane Tseng, CEO of Dasher Neuroscience, stated that the completion of enrollment provides the necessary foundation for ongoing global out-licensing discussions. The company is already preparing for a Phase 3 trial to accelerate the drug toward commercialization. YA-101 has secured Fast Track Designation from the U.S. FDA and Orphan Drug status in the U.S., Japan, and the European Union, underscoring the urgency of addressing a disease where most patients face severe disability within five years of diagnosis.
