As organizations grapple with the physical requirements of large-scale AI, the demand for interoperable network operating systems has surged. SONiC, hosted under the Linux Foundation, has emerged as the primary alternative to proprietary hardware lock-in, offering a modular architecture that supports diverse enterprise and cloud environments. By integrating Supranett’s specialized expertise, the Foundation aims to accelerate the development of AI-native fabrics capable of handling intensive data throughput.

Arpit Joshipura, general manager of networking, edge, and IoT at the Linux Foundation, noted that the new members bring critical production experience necessary for the next generation of cloud networking. Supranett CEO Yue Gong emphasized that the commitment centers on building open, dynamic architectures that match the scale of modern GPU deployments. Meanwhile, Exaware’s participation aims to bridge the gap between software and on-site hardware support, providing a certified end-to-end path for data center operators. This influx of technical contributors reinforces the Foundation’s standing as a central hub for companies seeking to avoid vendor dependency in their infrastructure stacks.
