Myrias Optics Taps Former Apple Lead to Scale Metaoptics Production
Benjamin Cherniawski has joined Myrias Optics as the company’s new Director of Production, tasked with transitioning its wafer-level metaoptics from specialized research into high-volume manufacturing. Cherniawski arrives from Apple, where he spent seven years overseeing complex display and vision technology programs through the critical stages of industrial scale-up.
In his new role, Cherniawski will oversee the construction and launch of Myrias’ upcoming production facility. His mandate covers the full spectrum of manufacturing readiness, including metrology strategy, quality control systems, and the integration of new equipment. The company aims to leverage his background in materials science and semiconductor processing to industrialize its proprietary nanoimprinting technology.
During his tenure at Apple, Cherniawski served as both a Materials & Process Integration Lead and a Technical Program Leader. CTO Vincent Einck noted that Cherniawski’s experience in aligning cross-functional teams—spanning design, reliability, and supply chain—is essential for moving Myrias’ optical components into mass deployment. The appointment signals a pivot for the Amherst-based firm as it seeks to expand both internal infrastructure and global manufacturing partnerships.
