Femto Sensing Debuts Compact W4 Mini FBG Interrogator
A 160nm scanning range packed into a miniaturized chassis defines the new W4 Mini FBG Interrogator from Femto Sensing International. Launched this week, the device targets industrial and remote monitoring sectors that require high-capacity sensor networks without the hardware bulk or energy demands of traditional laboratory-grade equipment.

The W4 Mini operates across the 1460nm to 1620nm spectrum, supporting precise measurements of strain, temperature, pressure, tilt, and displacement. By allowing engineers to integrate a high volume of sensors onto a single fiber, the unit addresses the specific constraints of civil engineering, energy, and medical applications where physical space and power availability are limited.
Technica Optical Components CEO Andrei Csipkes noted that the hardware represents a push to expand optical sensing into more complex, remote environments. The device utilizes a solid-state architecture designed to maintain high performance metrics while minimizing the footprint. It integrates directly into the existing Femto Sensing software ecosystem and is currently available for global deployment.
