Freeform Future Corp. Wins DIU Contract to Accelerate Space Manufacturing
The Department of War Innovation Unit has tapped Los Angeles-based Freeform Future Corp. to lead its Adaptive Space Manufacturing and Integration at Scale project. The agreement tasks the firm with deploying its AI-native platform to produce flight-qualified space hardware, aiming to replace slow, legacy supply chains with rapid, high-volume production.

The 10ⁿ project addresses a systemic bottleneck in the U.S. space sector, where traditional manufacturing remains tethered to low-volume, bespoke production cycles. As orbital constellations grow and launch capacity increases, the military requires a shift toward on-demand hardware delivery. Freeform intends to bridge this gap by integrating GPU-accelerated physics modeling with metal additive manufacturing to reach production targets of thousands of units annually.
CEO Erik Palitsch noted that the firm’s manufacturing systems were engineered to provide commercial-grade output for demanding defense applications, moving at speeds the legacy industry has yet to achieve. By utilizing an agile iterative process—designing, building, and qualifying hardware in real-time—the company expects to elevate the manufacturing readiness level of critical propulsion and structural components. This partnership marks a strategic pivot for the Department of War, prioritizing scalable, commercially viable technology to maintain a competitive edge in space operations.
