ConnectDER Integrates IslandDER into SolarEdge Nexis Home Energy System

The SolarEdge Nexis IslandDER serves as the system's native Microgrid Interconnect Device (MID), handling grid outage detection and home isolation. By integrating the MID, consumption transformers, and sensing hardware directly into the meter collar, the device removes the requirement for main panel upgrades, circuit relocations, and external backup load panels. This architectural shift addresses common installation bottlenecks, particularly in the Western U.S., where meter-main combination panels often lack the physical space for traditional backup components.

Technically, the new model differentiates itself through a digital RJ45 ethernet port, replacing older analog wiring with a direct connection to the SolarEdge Nexis inverter. According to installers like Senga Energy, this reduces conduit clutter and labor time significantly. The SolarEdge Nexis platform itself, which launched in 2025, supports scalable storage from 5kWh to 80kWh and provides 185 Locked Rotor Amps to handle heavy residential appliances like HVAC systems. The integrated units are currently available through national distribution channels and have already secured financing support from platforms including Palmetto LightReach and IGS Solar.
