Dr. Thanapoom Boonipat Opens 2027 Scholarship for Student Artists

Undergraduate students who bridge the gap between creative expression and scientific inquiry are invited to compete for the 2027 Dr. Thanapoom Boonipat Grant for the Arts. The program, which awards a $1,000 scholarship, seeks to highlight how artistic vision complements professional excellence in medicine and technology.

The grant is open to all undergraduate students currently enrolled at accredited institutions in the United States, including international students. While the scholarship emphasizes the intersection of art and medicine, applicants need not be medical majors to qualify. The primary requirement is a portfolio of original visual work that reflects the candidate's creative perspective.

Contestants must submit up to five high-quality photographs of their own work, which may range from traditional mediums like painting, sculpture, and ceramics to digital illustration and textile art. Submissions are restricted to still images in JPG, JPEG, or PNG formats, with a file size limit of 10 MB per piece. The foundation explicitly excludes video files, animation, and external portfolio links from the selection process.

Dr. Thanapoom Boonipat, a board-certified plastic and maxillofacial surgeon, established the award to honor the synergy between artistic insight and technical precision. Interested students have until July 15, 2027, to finalize their entries. A single recipient will be selected and announced on August 15, 2027.
