Loyalist College Adopts Sectra Imaging Platform for Clinical Training

Ontario’s Loyalist College is integrating Sectra’s cloud-based Education Portal into its curriculum, marking a shift toward using anonymized, real-world diagnostic imaging cases for student training. This partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic instruction and the practical demands of modern clinical diagnostic environments.

The platform grants students remote access to diagnostic imaging scenarios, allowing them to practice treatment planning and condition monitoring using professional-grade tools. By utilizing anonymized data from local hospitals, faculty can construct customized assessments that mirror the workflows students will face upon entering the workforce. Dr. Amanda Baskwill, Senior Vice-President Academic at Loyalist, noted that the system provides the flexibility required to build confidence in practical skills before students begin their clinical placements.

As a managed SaaS solution, the portal reduces the technical overhead for the college by handling updates and security centrally. The current agreement, signed during Sectra’s 2025/2026 fiscal year, supports up to 50 active users per month. Nader Soltani, President at Sectra Canada, emphasized that this implementation is a first for Ontario, positioning the college to standardize training quality through a platform already proven in international clinical settings.
