Mark Zuckerberg Adds 19th-Century Irish Castle to Real Estate Portfolio
Strancally Castle, a sprawling 440-acre estate overlooking the Blackwater River in Ireland, has been acquired by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan. The couple secured the historic 16,000-square-foot property several weeks ago, joining a private collection of homes that already spans from Palo Alto to Hawaii.

The purchase price for the 1830s-era residence remains undisclosed, though local reports estimate the transaction reached between €20 million and €30 million. Originally constructed for a Tory MP, the castle underwent significant restoration under its former owners, Michael and Giancarla Alen-Buckley. A spokesperson for the family noted that the couple intends to maintain the integrity of the historic site and plans to visit the country, which serves as the international hub for Meta’s operations. Despite the acquisition, the family will maintain their primary residence in the United States. This investment is the latest addition to a diverse property portfolio that includes holdings in Florida, Washington, D.C., and an extensive array of real estate in Palo Alto.
