Dominican Republic Hits Record US$5.03 Billion in Foreign Investment
A steady flow of international capital has propelled the Dominican Republic to a historic milestone, with foreign direct investment hitting US$5.03 billion in 2025. This 11.3% jump over the previous year marks the fourth consecutive annual record for the nation, cementing its status as a primary Caribbean investment hub.

The surge in capital is largely anchored by the tourism and energy sectors, which together captured just over half of all incoming funds. Tourism claimed 26.3% of the total, while the energy sector secured 23.8%. The latter has seen a dramatic shift in interest over the last six years, climbing from a 9.2% share in 2019 to its current prominence, driven primarily by government incentives for renewable energy projects.
Data from the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic and ProDominicana confirm that the investment landscape remains broad. Real estate followed the top two industries with a 15.7% share, while commerce, free-trade zones, and mining rounded out the primary interests for foreign backers. This diversification aligns with the U.S. International Trade Administration’s assessment of the country as a rapidly expanding upper-middle-income economy. With the Dominican Republic–Central America Free Trade Agreement providing a stable legal bedrock, the nation continues to leverage its Single Investment Window to streamline the administrative hurdles for global investors.
