Arm brings AI-powered gaming graphics to mobile via Xiaomi
China has become the first market to deploy Arm’s new Mali G2-Ultra NX graphics processor, debuting inside the Xiaomi 18 Fold. By integrating an AI gaming accelerator into the GPU, the chip aims to replicate high-end PC graphical techniques on mobile devices without increasing power consumption.

The Mali G2-Ultra NX, housed within the custom Xring O3 chip, represents a significant shift in mobile hardware strategy. According to Arm, the processor offers an 85-percent performance jump over previous hardware used by Xiaomi and a 14-percent increase in non-AI gaming tasks. More importantly, the architecture introduces hardware-accelerated techniques similar to Nvidia’s DLSS, including AI upscaling, frame generation, and ray reconstruction.
Chris Bergey, Arm’s EVP of Edge AI, confirmed that this technology is slated for a broader rollout in the coming year, reaching tablets, Chromebooks, and potentially future Google hardware. By bringing Tensor-like capabilities directly into the GPU shader, the company intends to eliminate the jagged edges and performance bottlenecks historically associated with mobile gaming, effectively bridging the fidelity gap between pocket-sized devices and desktop platforms.
