Electreon Debuts Cable-Free Charging for Passenger EVs at IAA 2026

The system utilizes an above-ground charging pad and a secondary wall unit, allowing for installation without the excavation work typically required for fixed infrastructure. Designed to function in extreme weather conditions ranging from -30 to +50 degrees Celsius, the hardware communicates automatically with the vehicle once it is parked. CEO Oren Ezer noted that the technology targets both private users and fleet operators, aiming to integrate energy replenishment into existing parking routines.

For logistics firms, the transition to wireless technology addresses a common maintenance burden. Cables and connectors are frequently damaged by weather, dirt, or accidental vehicle impact, creating downtime for electric fleets. By automating the process, Electreon intends to turn idle parking time into active charging sessions. The company, which recently acquired InductEV and now manages a portfolio of over 400 patents, is positioning this rollout to meet the mounting global demand for vehicle infrastructure as electric vehicle registrations continue to climb across Europe.
