Wix Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over AI Strategy and Cost Disclosures
A 27% collapse in share price following Q1 2026 earnings has triggered a securities class action against Wix.com Ltd. The lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of Illinois, alleges the company misled investors by overstating the performance of its AI initiatives while failing to disclose ballooning development and marketing costs.

The complaint, Yappi v. Wix.com Ltd., et al., covers investors who acquired securities between February 19, 2025, and May 12, 2026. Plaintiffs claim Wix masked the true financial impact of its AI-driven projects, Base44 and Harmony, which were marketed as a response to the rise of 'vibe coding' software development. Instead of delivering promised growth, these initiatives led to a 46% spike in quarterly operating expenses and a steep contraction in operating margins, which fell from 21% to 5% year-over-year.
During the May 2026 earnings call, management conceded that the Harmony platform suffered from missing capabilities and that professional developers were increasingly turning to competing tools. This disclosure wiped over $1.1 billion from the company's market capitalization. Hagens Berman, the law firm leading the investigation, is seeking lead plaintiffs for the case, with a filing deadline of September 22, 2026. The firm is also soliciting information from potential whistleblowers regarding the company's internal disclosures.
