Fujifilm’s Instax Pal 2 upgrades to a proper viewfinder and screen

Priced at $169.95 and arriving in the US later this month, the Pal 2 features a 10-megapixel sensor paired with an f/2.2 28mm lens. This hardware represents a significant leap in resolution compared to budget-focused alternatives like the Kodak Charmera. Users can now frame shots using the top-mounted LCD or the optical viewfinder, while manual controls for ISO, shutter speed, and exposure compensation provide a level of creative flexibility absent from the original design.

The tactile experience mimics traditional film photography through a shutter button, a joystick, and a functional lever used for cycling through exposures. Beyond its retro interface, the camera includes modern conveniences such as face-detection autofocus, a built-in flash, and a tripod mount. Images transfer to smartphones via Bluetooth or a direct slide-out USB-C connection, allowing for instant printing through Fujifilm’s ecosystem. The internal rechargeable battery supports approximately three hours of continuous operation.
