Carolina Panthers and Bank of America Launch Youth Development Platform
The Carolina Panthers and Bank of America have unveiled 3rd & Goal, a collaborative initiative targeting 10,000 students across North and South Carolina. By focusing on third-grade development, the program aims to address early literacy, physical activity, and mental well-being to foster long-term academic and personal success.

The platform draws its name from the critical nature of third grade in a child’s educational trajectory. Program pillars include Read 20, which promotes daily reading habits; Play 60, an exercise-focused initiative supported by Atrium Health; and Feel 100, a mental health component presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina. The organizations intend to use these programs to provide a structured foundation for emotional regulation and social development.
To ensure measurable results, the UNC Charlotte Center for Educational Measurement and Evaluation will monitor student engagement and program impact over a three-year period. During a launch event at Bank of America Stadium, more than 400 students from Title I schools participated in a field day, signaling the start of an annual incentive program that will reward top-performing students for their achievements in literacy, fitness, and wellness.
