Cambridge Expands '4-Minute Community' With Mass CPR Training

The training session, supported by CrimsonEMS and ProEMS, aims to provide hands-on experience for students, faculty, and visitors. Avive Solutions is supplying 25 of its Avive Connect AED devices and CPR manikins to facilitate simultaneous instruction. Participants will practice identifying cardiac arrest, performing chest compressions, and deploying defibrillators in simulated emergency scenarios.

This event builds on an existing infrastructure of nearly 380 connected AEDs already distributed across Cambridge, including 326 units installed by MIT. By embedding these devices and trained personnel throughout neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces, city officials intend to normalize bystander intervention. Representatives from the Fire Department and local medical services will remain on-site to oversee the instruction, ensuring that the collaboration between campus responders and city emergency crews remains seamless. Organizers view this as a pivotal step toward ensuring that rapid, life-saving intervention becomes a standard expectation for any cardiac emergency within city limits.
