Fastmarkets Taps TMX Trayport to Digitize Lithium Trading

The collaboration integrates TMX Trayport’s established trading network technology with Fastmarkets’ benchmark pricing expertise. While Fastmarkets maintains operational control and governance, the platform will utilize an industry advisory group to ensure the infrastructure meets the specific needs of participants across the global lithium supply chain. By introducing electronic workflows, the initiative aims to standardize deal initiation and improve transparency in a sector where digital execution remains in its infancy.

Fastmarkets CEO Raju Daswani noted that the partnership leverages Trayport’s proven scalability in complex commodity markets to create a more efficient physical trading environment. Matt Brief, president of TMX Trayport, stated that the move represents an opportunity to introduce sophisticated market connectivity to a rapidly evolving industry. Fastmarkets Connect will operate alongside the company’s existing IOSCO-compliant price benchmarks, which currently serve as the settlement reference for major futures contracts on the CME, London Metal Exchange, ICE, and SGX.
