Skyways and DSV Partner for Autonomous Cargo Flights in North Sea
Autonomous aircraft developer Skyways is entering the offshore energy sector through a commercial partnership with logistics giant DSV. Starting this fall in Norden, Germany, the collaboration aims to replace costly traditional maritime and helicopter transport with long-range uncrewed systems designed to serve wind turbines and remote energy platforms.
The partnership assigns Skyways the role of providing specialized hardware, comprehensive pilot training, and technical maintenance, while DSV oversees local flight operations and regulatory approvals. These aircraft are built specifically for challenging maritime environments where traditional logistics often struggle with distance, limited access, and high operating costs.
Mathias Vinter, head of drone services at DSV, noted that Skyways was selected following an extensive market evaluation that highlighted the aircraft's payload capacity and operational maturity. The initial deployment serves as a pilot for a scalable model intended for broader market expansion. Both companies plan to showcase these capabilities at the WindEnergy Hamburg trade show, beginning September 22, 2026.
