Hills Distribution Acquires E-commerce Player PEXUniverse
Merging a legacy of Northeast brick-and-mortar operations with a digital-first model, Hills Distribution has acquired Brooklyn-based PEXUniverse. The move secures a national footprint for the plumbing and HVAC supplier, integrating 8,000 active SKUs into a platform that now spans five distinct regional and digital brands.

PEXUniverse, which has operated as a pure-play e-commerce entity for nearly two decades, brings significant digital scale to the Hills ecosystem. Under the new ownership, the Brooklyn company will retain its current leadership structure, with Mariya Pylypyuk continuing as General Manager. The acquisition allows Hills to bridge its traditional branch network—comprising 40 locations across the Northeast—with the direct-to-consumer reach of PEXUniverse’s national fulfillment capabilities.
Ron LaBusch, CEO of Hills Distribution, characterized the partnership as a strategic push into the high-growth e-commerce channel. For the parent company, which operates alongside Grove Mountain Partners, the addition of PEXUniverse complements existing brands like Plimpton & Hills and Bender Plumbing Supply. Former owner Gennady Sharovetky noted that the transition aims to preserve the business’s established identity while leveraging the resources of a larger distribution platform to scale operations further.
