Aeonsemi Debuts Praxium Ethernet PHYs for Robotics and Autonomous AI

Santa Clara-based Aeonsemi has launched the Praxium™ family, a series of multi-gigabit Ethernet PHYs engineered to shrink the hardware footprint of Physical AI. By delivering up to 10 Gbps speeds in a compact 6x6 mm package, the chips aim to simplify data connectivity for autonomous vehicles, robots, and industrial sensors.

The Praxium™ lineup, which includes both single-port and quad-port configurations, centers on the IEEE 802.3ch standard. While this protocol typically relies on shielded twisted pair cabling, Aeonsemi has expanded support to include coaxial and miniature twinax cables. This flexibility allows engineers to reduce cable weight and diameter, a critical factor for routing through the mechanical joints of humanoid robots or dense automotive controllers.

Energy efficiency remains a core focus of the new hardware. The devices consume as little as 350 mW for asymmetric 10 Gbps sensor links, leveraging Energy-Efficient Ethernet to maintain performance without excessive thermal output. Beyond raw speed, the chips integrate IEEE 802.1AE MACsec for link-layer security and support precision timing protocols like IEEE 1588 and gPTP, which are essential for real-time sensor fusion in autonomous systems.

"With Praxium™, we have dramatically reduced the power and footprint required to deploy multi-gigabit connectivity," said Yunteng Huang, CEO of Aeonsemi. The company has begun sampling the AS31x1x series with lead customers, with volume production expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026.
