Nevada King Shifts Treasury Strategy Into Physical Gold Bullion
Nevada King Gold Corp. has diversified its treasury holdings by purchasing C$8 million in exchange-traded securities backed by physical gold bullion. The Vancouver-based explorer, which holds approximately 1,240 ounces of gold, intends to maintain this position for at least 12 months as part of a new treasury management program.

The company acquired the gold-backed securities at an average cost of US$4,340 per ounce, utilizing funds managed by the Royal Canadian Mint. CEO John Sclodnick noted that the firm’s current cash reserves and short-term investments are sufficient to cover operations, including the ongoing Phase 4 drill program, beyond the next year. This financial cushion allowed the board to transition a portion of the treasury from cash into the commodity the company targets in its exploration efforts.
Alongside the gold holdings, Nevada King maintains C$5 million in short-term investments, including GICs and investment-grade debentures with maturities spanning one to 10 months. As of September 21, 2026, the company reported total cash, short-term investments, and gold holdings of approximately C$16 million. While this strategy aligns the company’s treasury value with gold price fluctuations, management acknowledged that the shift introduces new risks, including currency exchange volatility and potential liquidity challenges compared to traditional cash holdings.
