SAIC Roewe Unveils Jiayue 07 with ByteDance's Doubao AI
Moving past screen-based chatbots, SAIC Roewe has launched the Jiayue 07, a mass-production SUV that integrates ByteDance’s Volcano Engine Doubao model directly into the driving experience. This vehicle marks a shift toward embodied AI, where the car acts as an intelligent agent capable of executing complex physical travel tasks.
Unlike standard voice assistants limited to simple commands, the Doubao-powered system functions as a mobile agent. It processes open-ended user intent to manage route planning, climate control, and cabin settings while synchronizing with the Momenta driving system for autonomous navigation and parking. This integration bridges the gap between digital AI and physical execution, moving the industry from virtual interaction to active, road-legal intelligence.
The Jiayue 07 is built on a platform designed for both performance and utility. It features a 2908mm wheelbase with an 88.8% interior space utilization rate, wrapped in a design led by Joseph Caban. With a 320km pure electric range and a total reach of 1480km, the SUV is positioned to solve range anxiety while emphasizing human-centric driving assistance rather than full automation. By leveraging China’s integrated supply chain and massive user data, SAIC aims to outpace overseas competitors who remain largely in the conceptual phase of embodied AI development.
