WSWA Women’s Leadership Council Gathers to Tackle Industry Evolution
Fifty-eight women leaders representing 15 member companies convened in Washington, D.C., last week for the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America’s 2026 Women's Leadership Council Conference. The two-day event focused on equipping executives with practical strategies to manage shifting market demands through technology, financial acumen, and resilient leadership.

The curriculum blended technical training with high-level strategy. Nick Pericle guided participants through a workshop on artificial intelligence, moving beyond theoretical applications to demonstrate how AI tools can streamline decision-making, executive communication, and time management. Complementing the technical sessions, the conference leveraged the expertise of retired three-star generals Mary O'Brien and Lori Reynolds, who shared insights on cultivating grit and purpose to maintain team performance during periods of uncertainty.
Market analysis played a critical role in the proceedings, with SipSource Director Eric Schmidt presenting a breakdown of current consumer demand and on-premise activity. Financial planning also took center stage as Joe Stephens of Associated Financial Planners addressed the realities of compensation gaps and career longevity. The gathering concluded with a session from public policy expert Ashley Davis on the necessity of emotional intelligence in pivot-point management. Beyond the classroom, attendees participated in a service project supporting I Support the Girls, reflecting the council's dual focus on professional development and community impact.
