Sysco Drivers in Wisconsin Join Teamsters to Close Wage Gap

Eighty-four drivers at the Sysco facility in Baraboo have voted to join Teamsters Local 120, seeking to mirror the pay and benefit standards established by their unionized counterparts in neighboring states. The move marks a significant expansion of the labor organization’s footprint within the massive food service provider's regional network.

For driver Tyler Knoup, the decision to organize was driven by the visible disparity between his conditions and those of Teamsters members operating routes between Chicago and Minneapolis. By securing representation, these workers aim to leverage the collective bargaining power that has already delivered higher wages, pension contributions, and improved health care plans for over 13,000 Sysco employees nationwide.

These drivers maintain critical supply chains across Wisconsin, servicing major institutions such as the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Tom Erickson, President of Local 120, noted that the union intends to aggressively pursue a first contract that reflects the profits generated by the staff. With Sysco reporting $1.83 billion in net earnings for fiscal year 2025, the union is positioning its new members to capture a larger share of the company's financial success.
