Former Major Junior Hockey players who endured abuse or hazing now have a formal mechanism to seek justice. The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has authorized an opt-in litigation process for those who played in the Ontario Hockey League and the Western Hockey League, targeting systemic misconduct within the Canadian Hockey League.
Law firm Koskie Minsky LLP is spearheading these actions, organizing claims by team to streamline the legal process for victims. The court-approved framework, filed under CV-20-00642705-00CP, requires participants to formally register their claims directly with the firm. This legal window is not indefinite; the firm has set a firm deadline of April 6, 2027, for all opt-in submissions.
