Harold Hamm Pledges $150 Million to University of Oklahoma

The donation brings Hamm’s total lifetime contributions to the university to nearly $250 million. Of this latest commitment, $50 million is earmarked specifically for the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center, while the remaining $100 million will support the broader academic and research enterprises across the campus. The funds are intended to accelerate the university’s Project 200, an initiative aimed at recruiting top-tier researchers in fields such as oncology, neuroscience, and metabolic disease.

This investment arrives as the university works to address persistent health disparities in Oklahoma. The institution currently educates 80% of the state’s healthcare workforce and recently achieved its first top-100 national ranking for National Institutes of Health funding. University President Joseph Harroz, Jr. described the gift as a strategic move to leverage recent gains in clinical capacity and research, noting that the partnership between the school and its clinical arm, OU Health, is essential to moving laboratory discoveries into patient care settings.
