Photographers Amelia G and Forrest Black Document Alternative Adult Icons

Amid the neon-lit chaos of Las Vegas adult industry conventions, photographers Amelia G and Forrest Black spent three years carving out a hundred square feet of stillness to document 150 creators. Their new fine art book, The Alt Side, strips away industry tropes to frame these individuals through the lens of high-end fashion.

The 172-page hardcover project captures subjects who define themselves through goth, punk, cosplay, and body modification aesthetics. By applying editorial lighting and deliberate composition, the photographers shift the focus from the subjects' professional output to their self-authored identities. The book acts as a permanent record at a time when social media algorithms often restrict how these figures present themselves to the public.

Amelia G, whose career includes founding Blue Blood magazine, notes that the project aims to immortalize a subculture often ignored by traditional institutions. Alongside Forrest Black, a designer and photographer known for his work with acts like the Beastie Boys and the Dandy Warhols, the duo brings decades of experience documenting the intersection of subculture and individuality. The project is currently seeking funding through a Kickstarter campaign, offering a look at a living canon of icons whose influence on modern aesthetics remains significant despite institutional neglect.
