HOTWORX Hits 900-Studio Milestone as Global Footprint Expands
With more than 400,000 members now training in infrared saunas across four countries, HOTWORX has officially surpassed 900 locations. The New Orleans-based fitness franchise, which debuted in 2017, is currently accelerating its development pipeline to hit the 1,000-studio mark by the spring of 2027.

The brand's rapid scaling relies on a unique franchisee pipeline: a majority of owners were initially members who transitioned into operators. This internal growth strategy is currently being bolstered by a significant technology push. Throughout 2026, the company integrated several digital tools to streamline operations and enhance user metrics, including the AI-powered TrainingTRAX personal coaching system, the SCAN24/7 retail interface for unattended pro shops, and the proprietary Burn Rate algorithm.
Scaling the Infrared Model
Expansion efforts have moved into new territories, including a recent debut in Alaska with four planned locations. International growth remains a priority, with studios already operating in Ireland and Dubai and new development underway in Mexico and Kenya. This performance has earned the company a spot on the Inc. 5000 list and a climb to the 58th position on Entrepreneur’s 2026 Franchise 500. According to founder and CEO Stephen P. Smith, the current objective is to shift focus from proving the viability of infrared fitness to defining the category as a dominant force in the boutique fitness industry.
