Xryma Plc Secures Direct Access to ECB T2 Settlement Network

Nicosia-based Xryma Plc has become one of the first non-bank payment service providers to gain direct access to the European Central Bank’s T2 Real-Time Gross Settlement network. The integration allows the firm to bypass traditional correspondent banking, enabling its customers to settle euro transactions in under 40 seconds.

By connecting directly to the Eurosystem’s infrastructure under its own BIC ISEMCY22XXX, Xryma is replacing the legacy SWIFT model, which often requires three to five business days for international transfers. The move eliminates the multi-bank "hops" that previously added time and compliance friction to each transaction. Instead, Xryma now settles euro payments directly in central bank money, mirroring the speed of domestic SEPA Instant transfers for cross-border needs.

To ensure operational resilience, the company has architected a dual-pathway system, load-balancing traffic through the Bank of Lithuania and the Bank of Latvia. This infrastructure allows Xryma to manage volume flow independently of a single central bank point of failure. According to Group CEO Nikogiannis Karantzis, the integration provides institutional-grade banking capabilities that directly benefit users of its ISX Money and flykk services.

As the ECB prepares to transition T2 to 24/7 operations, Xryma is positioning itself to interface with over 950 direct participant banks across the EU and more than 22,500 indirect global participants. The firm has also upgraded its SEPA Instant services to TIPS, signaling an intent to expand its reach into broader multi-currency and cross-border settlement markets.
