TENNIIX Unveils Embodied AI Robot for Professional Tennis Training
Professional tennis player Wang Qiang faced a new kind of opponent at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals: the ULTRA MAX, an embodied AI robot capable of delivering high-intensity, reactive topspin shots. Developed by Shenzhen-based firms, the machine aims to bridge the gap between static ball machines and human sparring partners.

The ULTRA MAX integrates the TENNIIX PRO training software with a wheeled-leg platform from LimX Dynamics. Unlike traditional automated feeders, this system operates without external sensors, instead relying on its own perception to track ball trajectories, spin, and player movement. By adjusting its delivery patterns in real-time based on the quality of a player’s return, the robot creates a dynamic environment that forces professional-level movement and shot selection.
The robotic base, which stands between 1.2 and 1.6 meters, provides the agility needed to mimic varied human court positioning. Shenzhen Enhanced Power Technology Co., Ltd. designed the system to move beyond repetitive drills, offering a responsive workout that adapts to the user. TENNIIX intends to deploy these units across tennis clubs to provide consistent, high-level practice for players who may struggle to find suitable human partners. Following its debut at the Billie Jean King Cup, the robot is scheduled for further exhibition at upcoming APEC meetings to demonstrate the practical application of embodied AI in sports.
