Microsoft Prepares Mythic Achievements to Rival PlayStation Platinum
Xbox is poised to introduce Mythic achievements, a reward system mirroring PlayStation’s Platinum trophies that triggers upon completing every challenge within a title. Data surfaced in the latest Xbox PC app update suggests this feature will allow players to track their progress and showcase their completionist status directly on their profiles.
The new system features a distinct unlock sound and a visual indicator, with references already surfacing in early versions of the Xbox dashboard accessible to Insider testers. While Microsoft has yet to provide an official launch date, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed the company’s intent to implement a platform-wide equivalent to the Platinum trophy system earlier this year. According to leaked details, these Mythic status markers function as a 100% Gamerscore completion reward, cementing their role as the ultimate accolade for dedicated players.
The discovery of these files aligns with broader internal shifts at the company. On the same day the Mythic references appeared in the PC app, Microsoft announced the layoff of 268 staff members. This restructuring involves the potential closure of studio Ninja Theory and the migration of flagship franchises, including Halo, Sea of Thieves, and Age of Empires, under the Activision banner.
