Robot.com and Grubhub Expand Campus Robot Deliveries to 20 Sites

Ten additional university campuses will host autonomous delivery fleets this school year, marking a significant expansion of the partnership between Grubhub and robotics firm Robot.com. The agreement, extended for three years, integrates mobile robots into campus dining operations across more than 20 locations nationwide to meet rising student demand.

Since launching their collaboration in 2022, the companies have embedded autonomous units directly into the Grubhub ordering interface. This integration allows students to receive food from campus restaurants via automated fleets capable of navigating inclement weather and high-traffic pedestrian zones. At the University of Southern Indiana, the robots have already completed over 25,000 deliveries, while Loyola Marymount University saw order volume climb nearly 70% in the first quarter of 2026.

The expanded deal introduces R-ads, an advertising platform that turns the delivery robots into mobile, interactive marketing displays. Future operational plans involve the deployment of R-dog, a four-legged concept robot designed to navigate stairs and complex terrain that traditional wheeled units cannot access. J. Kim Fennell, Chief Business Officer at Robot.com, noted that four years of consistent performance across mutual campuses provided the reliability necessary to scale these operations further this fall.
