Froome and Contador to Lead 2026 Best Buddies Challenge in New York

Organizers expect 750 participants to gather for the second annual iteration of the fundraiser, which kicks off with a reception at the Rainbow Room on October 2. The primary draw remains the 100-mile cycling route, where Froome and Contador will guide riders across the George Washington Bridge, through the Hudson River Valley, and up to Bear Mountain State Park before concluding at the Glenmere Mansion. While the marquee 100-mile ride demands significant stamina, the event maintains its focus on accessibility by offering alternative 72-mile and 33-mile courses designed for participants of all ability levels.

Anthony K. Shriver, founder and CEO of Best Buddies International, noted that the event serves as a platform to sustain the momentum built during the program's inaugural New York appearance. The initiative is backed by a broad coalition of corporate partners, including presenting sponsors Jersey Mike's Subs and Wells Fargo, alongside support from organizations like Volvo Car USA and BNY Mellon. Proceeds from the day are earmarked for the nonprofit’s core mission, which spans integrated employment, leadership training, and one-to-one friendship programs across 41 countries.
