As a bio-based solution derived from abundant soybean feedstock, epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO) has emerged as a primary candidate to replace petroleum-based additives. Industry players are increasingly pivoting toward higher-value, specialized formulations that offer improved thermal stability and lower volatility, moving away from traditional, lower-margin commodity grades.

Technological advancements in production are further fueling this transition. The use of hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent is becoming more efficient, allowing producers to optimize heat extraction and enhance overall yield.
