Dr. Judy Benjamin Completes 550-Mile Walk for Alzheimer's Awareness

After 1.3 million steps and nearly two months on the road, 82-year-old Dr. Judy Benjamin reached London on September 25. The journey from Land's End was more than a physical feat; it served as a platform for the Alzheimer's survivor to spark urgent conversations about cognitive health across southern England.

Benjamin, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at 67, trekked through Cornwall, Brighton, and Canterbury to promote early intervention. Her route held deep personal significance, particularly in Canterbury, where she connected with her own ancestral history at a local church where her family’s records date back to the 1600s. Throughout the trip, she visited care facilities like the Linden home in Lymington, exchanging stories with residents and caregivers about the toll the disease takes on families.

Her recovery, which she credits to a personalized protocol developed with neurologist Dr. Dale Bredesen, has transformed her into a vocal advocate for brain health. Having previously completed a 2,870-mile walk across the United States in 2025, Benjamin views these long-distance journeys as essential outreach. She established the Alzheimer's Survivors Foundation to document cases of cognitive improvement and push for broader awareness. While her UK walk concluded at Lambeth Bridge, she remains focused on her work as a health coach, emphasizing that early action remains the most effective tool against cognitive decline.
