S&P Global Ratings Upgrades Outlook for BlueHub Loan Fund to Positive
S&P Global Ratings has shifted the outlook for the Boston-based BlueHub Loan Fund from stable to positive, while reaffirming the organization’s 'A+' long-term issuer credit rating. This improved assessment underscores the nonprofit’s financial resilience and its ability to maintain robust capital levels despite broader economic volatility.
The rating agency cited BlueHub’s consistent ability to manage risk within its lending portfolio and control capital costs as primary drivers for the upgrade. Over the next two years, analysts expect the fund to sustain above-average capital adequacy compared to its industry peers. The 'A+' affirmation also extends to the fund’s Series 2020 and Series 2024 Sustainability Bonds.
BlueHub Capital CEO Elyse Cherry noted that the positive outlook validates the organization’s disciplined financial approach, which remains vital for funding affordable housing, health centers, and educational facilities nationwide. Karen Kelleher, president of the loan fund, added that the investment-grade status is instrumental in securing the capital necessary to support low-income communities. The fund’s profile is bolstered by strong asset quality, high profitability relative to other community development financial institutions, and proactive underwriting standards.
