Judah Taub Proposes Twelve Ambitious Moonshots for Israel’s Future
Israel must move beyond incremental policy fixes and apply the same entrepreneurial ingenuity that fueled its startup ecosystem to its most pressing national challenges, according to venture capitalist Judah Taub. His new book, published October 5, outlines twelve actionable proposals designed to reshape the country's defense, energy, and demographic landscape.
Taub, the managing partner of Hetz Ventures and a former IDF intelligence officer, argues that his "moonshots" are not academic exercises but concrete strategies for national transformation. Each proposal aims to generate significant economic value, with the collective potential to add over $1 trillion to Israel’s economy. The concepts have been stress-tested with field experts to ensure they move past abstract theory into measurable implementation.
Key proposals include the development of the Abraham Canal, a maritime corridor linking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, and a strategy to transform Israel into a regional water superpower through large-scale desalination exports. Other plans focus on modernizing information warfare through the "Eighth Battlefield" model and strengthening the Jewish future by mitigating the financial barriers associated with observant life. President Isaac Herzog has already engaged with these ideas, emphasizing the necessity of capturing the nation's unrealized potential.
Taub brings a unique perspective to these challenges, drawing on his experience managing nearly $500 million in early-stage investments and his reserve service in AI and national security. By applying a "local maximum" framework—a concept he previously explored in his writing—Taub seeks to pivot Israel toward a trajectory of long-term geopolitical leverage and domestic prosperity.
