B. Braun to Shut Down Interventional Systems Division by 2026
B. Braun Medical Inc. confirmed plans to shutter its B. Braun Interventional Systems (BIS) unit, marking a significant pivot in the company’s corporate strategy. The Bethlehem-based manufacturer intends to wind down the division over the next eighteen months, shifting its focus toward core business lines and long-term operational efficiency.

Commercial operations for BIS will remain active through March 31, 2026, ensuring that existing product supplies reach healthcare providers without immediate interruption. The firm is currently coordinating with suppliers and distributors to facilitate an orderly handoff of its portfolio, which includes specialized devices for interventional radiology, vascular surgery, and congenital cardiology.
Corporate Vice President Bob Sowinski stated that the transition period prioritizes employee support and patient care continuity. While the division currently manages a wide array of tools—ranging from vena cava filters to valvuloplasty equipment—the company will phase out these offerings as it consolidates resources. Customers are instructed to maintain existing contact channels for ongoing service, open orders, and product availability inquiries until the final closure date.
