Starlight Foundation Brings Halloween Magic to Pediatric Wards

A traditional hospital gown often serves as a stark reminder of a child's medical status, overshadowing the spirit of childhood. To counter this, the Starlight Children's Foundation has launched a nationwide initiative, delivering adaptive, festive apparel and activity kits to pediatric hospitals to ensure patients do not miss out on Halloween.

The organization’s new Halloween-themed collection replaces clinical garments with soft, T-shirt-style gowns and pants designed to accommodate medical equipment while allowing children to dress up. These items provide a sense of normalcy, helping young patients feel more like themselves during treatment. Alongside the apparel, Starlight is distributing Patient Activity Kits that function as trick-or-treat totes, packed with puzzles, sensory toys, and markers to combat the isolation of hospital stays.

Lisa Rivera, a therapeutic arts coordinator at Driscoll Children's Hospital, noted that these resources allow children to engage in seasonal traditions despite being away from home. Adam Garone, CEO of Starlight, emphasized that the initiative aims to transform a challenging environment into a space for imagination and play. The program, funded by donors and provided at no cost to hospitals, seeks to bolster the resilience of children facing serious illness by prioritizing moments of joy.
