Alphabet Reports Record Search Growth Driven by AI Expansion
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai confirmed that the company’s aggressive push into artificial intelligence is fueling a historic surge in user activity. Data from the third quarter of 2026 shows the highest year-over-year growth in search query volume in five years, signaling that new AI features are successfully capturing commercial interest.

Consolidated revenues reached $127.6 billion, marking a 25 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue from Google Search and related services climbed 12 percent, while the company’s cloud division saw a massive 103 percent jump to $30.7 billion. These figures highlight a period of intense hardware and software output, including the release of the Gemini 4 Argon model and the rollout of the Pixel 11 smartphone series.
The quarter also marked significant shifts in the company's internal structure and product ecosystem. Gemini surpassed 1 billion monthly users, even as Google rebranded NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook and introduced the Googlebook laptop line. Amid these product launches, the company underwent a major leadership transition, with Demis Hassabis moving into a chair role as part of a broader reorganization of its AI division.
