The Weather Channel app expands allergy tracking tools
High humidity and shifting winds often trigger respiratory distress even when pollen counts remain stagnant, a reality that prompted The Weather Company to overhaul its flagship app. The new diagnostic suite moves beyond static data to provide users with localized risk assessments and environmental triggers specific to their neighborhood.

The free version of The Weather Channel app now includes weather aggravator insights that analyze how specific atmospheric conditions amplify the impact of airborne allergens. Users receive daily forecasts for peak pollen levels alongside visual indicators that track risk fluctuations relative to the previous day. By integrating pollen data into standard five-day forecasts, the app allows for long-term health planning, supplemented by a decade of historical trends for regional comparison.
Premium subscribers paying $4.99 monthly or $29.99 annually will gain access to granular biological data later this summer. The update replaces generic tree pollen warnings with specific identification of species such as cedar or oak. This tier also introduces hourly pollen radar layers and a symptom tracker, enabling users to establish direct correlations between their physical condition and real-time environmental changes.
