Washington Wild Things Host Salute to Service for Pennsylvania Veterans
Under the bright stadium lights in Washington, Pennsylvania, the Washington Wild Things joined forces with Martin’s Point Military on June 6 to honor those who served. The Salute to Service evening went beyond the diamond, serving as a platform to funnel vital resources to local veterans’ organizations.

The event featured a series of ceremonial first pitches, including one by Pennsylvania State Senator Camera Bartolotta and another by retired Air Force Master Sergeant Timothy Neale Smith, a long-time volunteer for Honor Flight Pittsburgh. Between innings, Martin’s Point Military—a non-profit health care provider managing TRICARE Prime plans—distributed charitable contributions to the Veterans Leadership Program, Honor Flight Pittsburgh, and Operation Homefront. These funds are earmarked to bolster community-based support and resources for military personnel and their families across the region. A spokesperson for the health organization noted that their four-decade partnership with the Department of Defense drives their commitment to sustaining the groups that provide essential care to veterans.
