Club Med Returns to U.S. Soil with St. Croix Resort Redevelopment

Club Med is set to return to the United States through a strategic partnership with VICI Properties to redevelop the historic Carambola Beach Resort in St. Croix. The project marks the brand's re-entry into the U.S. market, aiming to transform the 150-key property into a premium, all-inclusive destination by late 2027.

The redevelopment follows VICI Properties' acquisition of the site, with the real estate trust entering a long-term triple-net lease to fund the property's transformation. Once finished, the resort will operate under Club Med’s Exclusive Collection, which focuses on elevated design and personalized service. Carolyne Doyon, President and CEO of Club Med North America and the Caribbean, described the project as a homecoming that leverages the island's natural beauty and deep cultural roots to foster meaningful connections across the Americas.

Originally built in 1986 by conservation pioneer Laurance Rockefeller, the resort will undergo a comprehensive renovation designed to meet BREEAM and Green Globe environmental standards. Beyond the physical upgrades, the project is expected to serve as a significant economic catalyst for the U.S. Virgin Islands. Governor Albert Bryan Jr. noted that the development is projected to create approximately 200 direct jobs, alongside numerous indirect opportunities for local farmers, artisans, and service providers. Construction is scheduled to commence in summer 2026, with a target reopening date set for the fourth quarter of 2027.
