Rare Vintage Motorcycles and Petroliana Headline Morphy’s July Auction
A 1940s Harbor Petroleum Products porcelain sign leads a catalog of nearly 1,300 lots, as Morphy Auctions prepares for a two-day sale of rare motoring memorabilia in Denver, Pennsylvania. Running July 15–16, the event features high-grade service station signage alongside iconic American motorcycles from the pre-war and post-war eras.

The centerpiece of the July 15 session is a 39-by-35-inch Harbor Petroleum Products sign from Los Angeles, graded 9.0 by AGS. Valued between $40,000 and $80,000, the piece remains a rare survivor of California’s early petroleum industry. Collectors will also find a highly sought-after 1939 Harley-Davidson EL Knucklehead, estimated at $30,000–$50,000. This specific model represents a turning point in Harley-Davidson history, as it successfully addressed the mechanical oiling issues that hindered previous iterations of the OHV V-twin engine.
The auction also includes a 1947 Indian Chief Model 347B in Deluxe Jet Black, carrying an estimate of $15,000–$30,000. Beyond motorcycles, the catalog features an exceptionally preserved double-sided OK Used Cars neon sign and a rare circa-1910s Mohawk Gasoline painted wood panel, recently discovered in San Francisco. Bidding opens at 9 a.m. ET each day at Morphy’s gallery, with remote participation available through the company’s digital platform.
